w/ Shane Murray
Mark Hohlstein and Shane Murray met at UMass Boston art gallery in 1993. We struck up a friendship
around all night drawing sessions with Shaun Mahoney in Shane's loft on Thayer Street in Boston. One
night we used up all of Shanes pastels. We came upon the idea of mark making with torn newspapers
and flour paste glue with little bugs in it. Over the next three nights we made Adam, our first collage.
with torn magazines (for the colour) and elmers glue. Years later we reassembled Adam where
the bug flour glue had failed and mounted him to canvas. Our colaboration lasted for ten years with
many shows. Our last big shows were at the Amsterdam Southebys and Fishtank Gallery in Brooklyn.
